Privacy policy

How ChopRadar handles information. ChopRadar is a discovery-only guide — no accounts, no bookings, no payments — so we collect as little as possible. Last updated August 2026.

Who we are

ChopRadar (“we”, “us”) is a Ghana-first restaurant discovery service operated from Ghana. We are the data controller for this site. For any privacy question or request, contact hello@chopradar.com.

What we collect, and why

Saved spots — when you tap Save, the spot is stored in your browser’s local storage, on your device only. It is never sent to us and is not an account. Clearing your browser storage removes it.

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 is off by default and loads only after you choose Allow analytics. If allowed, it may record page views and actions such as spot views, saves, map clicks, WhatsApp, phone, social, filter and search use. ChopRadar never sends the words typed into a search box; it sends only a non-identifying length bucket.

Server logs — our hosting provider keeps standard web-server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and secure the site.

Lawful basis

We ask for your consent before loading Google Analytics. We rely on our legitimate interest to operate and secure the site through essential server logs.

Who processes data for us

We do not sell your data. Limited data may be processed by Google only after analytics consent and by Automattic / WordPress.com for hosting. When you open TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp, Google Maps or a phone link, those services operate under their own privacy policies.

Cookies & local storage

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We store your analytics choice and saved spots in local storage. Google Analytics storage is denied until you allow analytics.

How long we keep it

Saved spots stay until you clear your browser storage. Analytics data is retained under Google’s settings. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited operational period.

International transfers

Google and our hosting provider may process data outside Ghana (for example in the EU or US) under their own safeguards and contractual protections.

Your rights & choices

You can decline analytics in the notice or reopen Analytics settings in the footer at any time. Withdrawing consent stops new analytics events and removes Google Analytics cookies this site can access; it does not delete your device-local saved spots. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any data we hold by emailing hello@chopradar.com, and you can complain to the relevant data-protection authority.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service grows; material changes will be shown here with a new date.
